Victony has finally put out STARLIFE, the album everyone’s been waiting for, and it kicks off an exciting new chapter for the Nigerian artist.

Back in January, the Nigerian singer was only planning to drop an EP, with a full album not coming until 2027. After all, he’d just put out his breakthrough debut Stubborn two years before. But once he started working in the studio, the songs just kept coming. “Every time I made a song, I realised I was able to carry that same feeling to the next song. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun making music,” he says over a recent Zoom call.

The turning point happened when Victony teamed up with producer Ozedikus, the guy behind Rema’s 2019 hit “Dumebi” and Oxlade’s massive “KU LO SA.” After watching his work for ages, Victony and Ozedikus started bouncing ideas off each other and connecting over growing up in the same part of Lagos.

Together, they created the smooth and flirty single “FRE$H” and quickly followed it with the instant hit “SLICK,” which was already blowing up before it even came out. Both tracks were made on the same night, Victony tells us. “We were two for two. I was in the studio and I told him, ‘Congratulations,’ because that was my first release of the year. That was the start of something.”
