Nigerian singer and songwriter Llona keeps showing how much he’s grown as an artist with “On The Road,” a beautiful 2026 album that shows off his unique mix of Afrobeats, soul, and modern African music.

In the two years since his debut album Homeless dropped in July 2024, the Kogi native watched his career take off in a big way. He spent the months after that first record travelling all over Nigeria, and that experience shaped his second album, On the Road, an honest look at learning to deal with life’s never-ending unpredictability.

He faces up to the darker parts of himself on tracks like “Monster or Not” and “Anger Management” before looking at how he feels about fame on “Turbulence”. Here, he sounds tired but realistic about what his success costs him: “Stay ambitious can’t afford to lose my discipline/Been a minute wey I don dey for your TV screen,” he sings. While Homeless mixed R&B and hip-hop sounds together, On the Road leans heavily on jazz, with strings, piano and smooth percussion backing up his thoughts about manhood, people who’ve let him down, and fate.

He dreams about a bright future with his friends on “Different Pictures” with Morrelo, and refuses to give up on “Won’t Die”. By the time he’s enjoying some deserved recognition on “What Do I Do?”, we get it. Even though there’ll be problems On the Road, we can’t lose track of where we’re headed.
